Paktia and Kochian win the opening matches of Provincial Grade II

Provincial Challenge Cup Grade II tournament started today 22nd of February with the wins of Paktia and Maidan Wardak provincial Cricket Teams in Nangarhar and Khost cricket grounds.

In the first match of the tournament held in Khost ground, Paktia emerged the winner by 5 runs despite a terrific century of 124 by Noristan’s Wicket-Keeper Mohammad Ishaq while defending the 277 targets.

Earlier today, Ajmal Zazai scored 73 as Paktia managed to score 266/9 in the 50 overs followed by their bowlers led by Aimal Zazai and Kabir who took 3-3 wickets each to restrict Noristan to 271 in a nail-biting finish.

Noristan’s Wicket-Keeper batsman Mohammad Ishaq awarded player of the match for a century which lately ended on a losing cause.

In the second match of the 1st day, Naratullah five-for helped his team Maidan Wardak to record 26 runs win over the Kochian Cricket Team in Nangrahar’s Ghazi Amanullah Cricket Ground.

Maidan Wardak showed discipline both in the batting and bowling to restrict the Kochian Cricket Team to 265 after putting a big total of 291 while batting first. Maidan Wardak’s Wicket-Keeper Mohammad Sardar declared man of the match for his notable 77 runs.

Farah takes on Baghlan in Nangarhar's Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Ground, while Faryab faces Zabul provincial cricket team in Khost cricket ground tomorrow on the second day of the tournament.
