Baghlan and Faryab Provincial teams got impressive starts in the ongoing Grade II Challenge Cup with 7 and 5 wickets win respectively over Farah and Zabul. In the first match of the second day, having opted to bowl first, Baghlan bundled out Farah for 122 in the 44th bowler as Man of the Match Eid Mohammad took a five-for while Farah’s Abdul Raziq top-scored with 43. In response, Abdul Basit & Abdul Malik did it in style for Baghlan having scored 54 and 34 respectively to secure a big seven-wicket win over Farah in Nangarhar’s Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, in the second match of the day played at Khost Cricket Ground, Faryab beat Zabul by 5 wickets. Batting first, Zabul was all out for 235 setting a target of 236 for Faryab as Nasibullah Sherdali top-scored with a brilliant knock of 142 while Faryab’s Zahid Zakhil was the pick of the bowlers with a five-wicket haul. In response, Faryab chased down the target in 46.1 overs courtesy of great knocks by Ijaz Ahmad and Janat Gul who scored 65 and 48 respectively. All-rounder Zahid Zakhil also contributed with the bat scoring a vital knock of 32 complimenting his five-wicket haul earlier to secure the Man of the Match trophy.
