A captain’s innings by Najib Zadran coupled with an amazing knock by Waheedullah Shafaq helped Bost keep their hopes of reaching the Final of Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament alive as they chased the target just in 22.3 overs, only 2 balls short of the net run-rate limit of maximum 22.5 overs.
Bost had to chase 209 runs in 22.5 overs in order to stay alive in the competition. They had a very shaky start losing four wickets within the first six overs. However, a 60-run partnership between Skipper Najibullah Zadran and Waheedullah Shafaq stabilized their innings and kept their hopes of reaching the target within the required overs intact. After Waheedullah Shafaq got out, wicket-keeper batsman Munir Ahmad came in to bat, however the wickets continued to fall as Najibullah stood in non-strikers end.
It required a special innings from Najib Zadran to take his team home and stay alive in the tournament as well and he delivered it in style.
Earlier in the day, Bost won the toss and elected to field first. Band-e-Amir posted a below-par score of 208 runs on board with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scoring 58 runs while opening batsman Ihsanullah Janat scored 50 runs as well. Sayed Shirzad, Dastagir Khan and Abdul Baqi took two wickets each.
Najibullah Zadran was deservingly awarded the man of the match award for his spectacular batting scoring 95 runs which included nine sixes and seven boundaries.
Bost will fancy their chances to reach the Final of the tournament as their net run-rate is relatively better placed compared to Amo and Band-e-Amir. The two finalists will be decided tomorrow after the encounter between Speenghar and Amo.
