Amo beat Mis-e-Ainak by 12 runs in the seventh match of the ongoing Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament in Kabul’s Alokozay Cricket Stadium.
Mis-e-Ainak won the toss and elected to field first. Being promoted up the order, all-rounder Sharafuddin Ashraf provided Amo with a blistering start as he put on 76 runs for the first wicket with skipper Javed Ahmadi. The partnership was broken when Sharafuddin Ashraf was bowled by Shahidullah for a quick-fire 47 runs which also included five maximums. Captain Javed Ahmadi also contributed with 39 runs while Young batsman Riaz Hassan displayed another good performance scoring a half century.
However, the innings was given a boost by an exciting cameo at the end by veteran All-rounder Mirwais Ashraf who scored 55 runs off just 35 deliveries which included five sixes and two boundaries. His innings propelled Amo to a challenging total of 301 runs off 50 overs.
In response, Mis-e-Ainak had a bad start as they lost their opening batsman Naveed Obaid in the first over of the chase. The chase was mostly guided by prominent batsman Rahmat Shah, who scored a brilliant century. He was well supported by Shahidullah as they piled up 116 runs for the fourth wicket. However, the partnership was not enough to take Amo home as they lost wickets on regular intervals.
All-rounder Sharafuddin Ashraf continued to dominate the match as he claimed 3 wickets. Mis-e-Ainak could only manage 289 runs on board and fell short by 12 runs as Amo won the match.
Sharafuddin Ashraf’s all round performance earned him the man of the match award for the second time in the tournament.
